At the foothills of the Langeberg mountains halfway between Riversdale and Heidelberg you will discover Sionsberg Farmstay in a beautiful mini rift valley, next to Sleeping Beauty. Sionsberg is situated on a working farm of 2000 hectares, with avocado and macadamia orchards, sheep on green kikuyu pastures, in winter vast yellow canola fields as well as lush green wheat fields intertwined with the ever present Fynbos. The mountains and the surroundings of the house invoke the most profound feeling of rugged beauty, acceptional views and the most relaxed atmosphere.
The second oldest house in Riversdale, dating from 1743 when this was the first farm given out by Lord Charles Somerset by way of "huurpag". Sionsberg Farmstay features spacious and welcoming living areas, a large country style kitchen, five bedrooms, two fully equipped bathrooms and an adventurous outdoor shower overlooking vistas of the Duivenhoks river.
In front of the house is a lovely authentic stoep , running the whole length of the house, overlooking old oak trees, a hedged garden, kikuyu pastures with sheep, the farm and Gysmanshoek pass. At the back of the house is a large deck with the hottub, patio area, a beautiful fire pit area overlooking the vegetable garden and views of the mountain.
The decor is a stylish colonial interior with a touch of eclecticism. All linen are 300 thread count Egyptian cotton with embroidered detail. This is a home that is made to be lived in, a home to be enjoyed and shared. Whether you're looking to return to a simpler state of being, hike, walk birdwatch or explore, Sionsberg Farmstay offers its guests something truly magical.

What a pleasure and experience of loveliness surrounded. Anita we had such a welcoming stay. Everything was perfection and ticked the blocks of excellence; the beauty and tidyness of a well kept house; the menu; the detail of making our stay cosy and luxerous - above all your beautiful heart. Many thanks. We will be back.

Once in a while, when planets and your lucky star align, something extraordinary happens: We discovered Sionsberg, a farmstay that is nothing but breathtaking - in every sense. Your first experience is the epitome of South African congeniality - the welcoming "kuierstoep" with its long dining table, couch and chairs. Hier gaan ons kuier! But, step through the front door, and you have to remind yourself to breathe again.... Read this review
